Well, it’s a been a fantastic adventure building a successful business over the last two years but now there is a new chapter ahead. I have been appointed to the role of Senior Lecturer in PR, Media and Communications at the University of Gloucestershire.
I will be heading up the MA course there in the Media School as well as teaching a module the BA course as well.
The new role is the culmination not just of the last two years of running my own business but also the previous 15 years working in the journalism industry at both a national and regional level.
I am hugely excited about taking on this new opportunity to help shape the future direction of the industry relevant course and also encourage and inspire the next generation of PR and communications professionals.
While I haven’t been a teacher as such before, I realise that whether it is the newsroom or the boardroom, I have been teaching on the job for many years and that is certainly a good start!
I am grateful to have a brilliant team of fellow academics most of which have also made the transition from industry into education, so there will be plenty of advice and support on hand.
I cannot wait to get stuck in and while teaching in a new part-remote world will be a challenge, I am confident I will rise to it. I am looking forward to getting on campus next month and meeting my new students. Roll on the academic year 2020/21!
What does this mean for Eastwood Digital? Well, it has been amazing running my own business and I won’t be abandoning ship and where possible, I will continue to offer support to clients in order to keep myself relevant in the industry.
